Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: The main opposition in Odisha today created uproar inside the state assembly and demanded the arrest of former Law Minister and BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty in a dowry harassment case. Mohanty's son Rajashree has already been arrested.

Congress MLAs demanded that the chief minister Naveen Patnaik must disclose the whereabouts of Raghunath Mohanty, who is presently underground.

Speaking to reporters,  the leader of Congress legislature party Bhupinder Singh said, Mohanty's daughter-in-law Varsha Soni has levelled serious charges of dowry harassment and yet the BJD leader has not been arrested.

Mohanty was forced to resign from the minister's post and since then he has gone underground.

Pratap Sarangi, an independent MLA asked the government to disclose the whereabouts of Mohanty.

“We would like to know whether Raghunath is absconding or whether he has been kidnapped or if the Chief Minister has sent him into hiding. All this information should be available to us,” said Sarangi

Mohanty's son Rajashree's bail petition was rejected twice as the Court felt that once out on bail, the accused could influence the investigation and tamper with evidence.

Now the Congress and BJP are demanding the arrest of the former minister Raghunath Mohanty.
