Pune Car Accident: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, while speaking on a tragic car accident in which two people were killed after they were hit by a speeding high-end luxury car which was driven by a 17-year-old boy, said that they have registered a case against five people including the pub manager and management staff, father of the juvenile and one more person.

The minor who was driving the luxury car was under the influence of alcohol as he was drinking with friends at a pub before he allegedly moved down two people, a CCTV footage revealed. The teenager is the son of a renowned real estate developer in the city.

Speaking on the incident, Amitesh Kumar said that their application in the lower court in which they appealed that the accused who was behind the wheel should be treated as an adult since there is a provision in the law and given that it's a heinous crime, was rejected. However, they have moved another application against it and hope the court will give a favourable order.

In another case, they have booked five people including the pub manager and management staff -- where the minor was seen drinking with friends, the father of the juvenile and one more person. Three of these have been arrested while the father and one more person have been detained and are being brought to Pune. They will be produced in the court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar demanded a judicial inquiry into the Pune accident.

The accused - Naman Pralhad Bhutda, the owner of Cosie restaurant, its manager Sachin Katkar, and the manager of Blak Club Hotel Sandip Sangle - were produced before the court.

While seeking their custody for seven days, the prosecution told the court that the establishments owned or managed by the accused served liquor to the boy and his friends without confirming his age.

A Porsche car, allegedly driven by the boy, who the police claim was drunk at the time, knocked down two motorbike riders in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune city in the early hours of Sunday, causing their deaths, police said.

On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, the accused juvenile along with his friends went to the two establishments between 9.30 pm and 1 am and allegedly consumed liquor, the police said.
