Sensex opens 153 points lower, Nifty below 15,700

The 30-share BSE benchmark dropped 153.13 points or 0.29 percent to settle at 52,693.57. During the day, it tumbled 387.22 points or 0.73 percent to 52,459.48.
LIC made its market debut at a discount of 8.11 per cent at Rs 872 per share on May 17.
The 30-share BSE benchmark was trading 374.72 points lower at 52,471.98. The Nifty declined by 100.15 points to 15,674.25.

Since the day of listing, LIC shares have remained below the issue price and had touched a low of Rs 708.70 and a high of Rs 920.
The 30-share BSE index ended 1,016.84 points or 1.84 per cent lower at 54,303.44. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty plunged 276.30 points or 1.68 per cent to 16,201.80.

The 30-share BSE benchmark surged 427.79 points or 0.78 per cent to close at 55,320.28. During the day, the benchmark hit a high of 55,366.84 and a low of 54,507.41.
The 30-share BSE gauge was trading 277.91 points or 0.51 per cent lower at 54,614.58 in early trade. Likewise, the Nifty declined 76.40 points or 0.47 per cent to 16,279.85.
The 30-share BSE benchmark dropped 214.85 points or 0.39 per cent to settle at 54,892.49. The broader NSE Nifty declined 60.10 points or 0.37 per cent to finish at 16,356.25.
LIC shareholders have lost around Rs 1,23,686 crore since its listing on May 17. The scrip is trading 20% lower than the IPO issue price.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 559.46 points lower at 55,115.86. The broader NSE Nifty fell by 161.05 points to 16,408.50.
LIC share price crashed nearly 3% on NSE and BSE each to close below Rs 800 on Monday.
