New Delhi: BJP leader and Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal assures Delhiites of 24hours electricity a week before Delhi Assembly polls. While speaking to the press, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's primary concern has always been public welfare.

“Last year when Delhi sizzled under the sweltering heat, a storm damaged transmission lines. Many parts of Delhi faced long power cuts. Power department said that it would take 6 months for the problem to be resolved. But PM Modi put his foot down and said that the people of Delhi must not suffer. Hence we hastened up the work and fixed everything within two to three weeks., BJP leader said while resurfacing the incident.

We spent Rs 7791 crore to strengthen transmission network, he added.

In an attempt to woo Delhi as it goes to poll on February 7, he said that the BJP government will rid Delhi of generators.

“This summer Delhi will get 7400 megawatt power. We will have smart electricity meters.”

In the coming days, through privatization of electricity, companies will emerge that will provide power supply. Consumers can decide which company their want to subscribe to and which not.

The BJP leader attacked AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for fooling people. He said it was Prime Minister Modi who started the campaign to save electricity.

Now people will use LED bulbs that save energy. Through LED bulbs Delhi will benefit Rs 2000 crore”, he said.

After almost a year's certainty, Delhi will vote for its government on February 7 and votes will be counted three days later.
