Union Budget 2020: Amritsar farmers demand separate budget for agriculture sector

 As the date for Union Budget 2020 is nearing, farmers are anticipating better budget allocation for the farming sector. Farmers are demanding to have a separate budget for farming. They are also demanding to have a separate provision for the price of crops. General Secretary of farmers' rights group, Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Sarwan Singh said, "Government is saying that they will double the farmers income but we don't have any roadmap as of now. Modi government has also ruined Swaminathan report." Swaminathan Commission formed by former UPA government said that farmers need assured access over natural resources such as land and water.
