Coronavirus Updates: June 12, 2020 | As it happened

164 more COVID-19 and 9 deaths reported in Telangana today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 4,484, including 2,278 discharged, 2,032 active cases, and 174 deaths. 

32 new COVID-19 positive cases and 2 deaths reported in Uttarakhand today, 52 people recovered today. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 1,724, including 21 deaths and 947 discharged. 

202 COVID-19 positive cases and 9 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh today, 159 people recovered today. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 10,443 including 440 deaths and 7,201 recovered. 

1,372 new COVID-19 positive cases, 90 deaths, 943  discharge in Mumbai today. The total number of positive cases here now stands at 1,01,141, including 2,042 deaths and 25,152 recovered and discharged. 

Delhi records the highest single-day spike after 2,137 COVID-19 positive cases reported today. 71 deaths and 667 recovered/migrated/discharged today. The total number of positive cases here stands at 36,824, including 1,214 deaths and 13,398 recovered/migrated/discharged. 

49 new COVID-19 positive cases and 55 people recovered and discharged in Jharkhand today, no deaths reported in the state today. The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 1,656, including 630 recovered and discharged and 8 deaths. 

West Bengal reported 476 new COVID-19 positive cases and 9 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the state rise to 10,244 including 451 deaths and 5,587 active cases. 

Goa detected 46 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 463. 

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Maharashtra crosses 1 Lakh, stands at 1,01,141 after 3,493 positive cases were reported today. The total death toll stands at 3,717 out of which 127 were reported today. 

495 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 31 deaths have been reported in Gujarat in the last 24 hours. State tally rises to 22,562 including 15,501 cured/discharged and 1,416 deaths. 

99 COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths reported in Punjab today. The total number of positive cases in the state is now 2,986 including 641 active cases and 2,282 recovered patients. The death toll stands at 63. 

Tamil Nadu records the highest single-day spike of 1,982 COVID-19 positive cases (Indigenous 1933 + Imported 49) today, 18 deaths, and 1,342 discharges also reported. The total number of positive cases stands at 40,698, including 367 deaths and 22,047 discharged. 

In the last 48 hours, 129 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Maharashtra Police. The total number of positive cases rise to 3,388 including 36 deaths and 1,945 recoveries. 

Three fresh COVID-19 positive cases and one recovered in the last 24 hours. The active cases now stand at 24, a total of 195 people have recovered till now.

448 new COVID-19 cases reported in Nepal in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 5,062, including 16 deaths. 

As many as 25 officials of the Ministry of Labour and Employment tested positive for COVID-19 this week, taking the number of infected employees in the ministry to 36, according to a source.

Authorities in Armenia have extended the state of emergency for another month until July 13, saying the coronavirus continues to remain a threat. The country’s health officials have reported a total of 15,281 confirmed cases and 258 deaths among its population of nearly 3 million. So far only 5,639 people have recovered.

Fourteen more people, including 11 women, tested positive for COVID-19 in Sikkim on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 27, an official said.

Uttarakhand reports 37 new COVID-19 positive cases today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 1692.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh rose to 4,402 after 141 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, out of which 2,599 have so far recovered and have been discharged, while 80 have died, the State Health Department said on Friday. With this, the number of active cases now stands at 1,723. 

At least 18 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura, raising the total tally in the state to 916, officials said on Friday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha surged to 3,498 after 112 new cases were reported, the State Health and Family Welfare Department said on Friday. With these new patients, the number of active cases now stands at 1,131, while 2,354 patients have so far recovered from the infection, while 10 persons have succumbed to the disease.

The Nepal government has reported a substantially high number of COVID-19 cases among people aged between 21 and 30 years, according to official data. As of Thursday, cases among people aged between 21 and 30 years stood at 1,792 which represents nearly 39 per cent of total infections in the Himalayan country, reports Xinhua news agency. The country has reported 4,614 total cases with 15 deaths.

Likewise, 1,195 cases were identified in the age group from 11 to 20 years and 975 cases were confirmed in the age group of 31-40 years, according to the Health Ministry.

Jharkhand's total COVID-19 cases reach 1,607 until 11 am today. Active cases stand at 969; 8 deaths reported.

Total 163 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Puducherry till date, of which 84 are active cases and 76 have been treated/discharged; death toll stands at 3.

92 more COVID-19 positive cases, and 4 deaths reported in Rajasthan today, as of 10:30 am. Total number of cases in the state is now at 11,930, including 2,818 active cases, and 269 deaths.

Coronavirus cases in India have crossed 2.97 lakh mark taking positive patients toll to 2,97,535 including 1,41,842 active cases 1,47,195 recovered and 8,498 deaths, according to health ministry's figures released on Friday. READ MORE

The Nepal government has decided to relax the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown in a phase-wise manner, allowing most of the economic activities to operate by following certain health protocol including social distancing measures, a Minister said.

The government had enforced nationwide lockdown starting from March 24 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, reports Xinhua news agency.

Turkey has partially resumed international flights, after remaining suspended for nearly two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

National flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) began its operation with a flight from Istanbul Airport to Dusseldorf in Germany on Thursday morning, which was followed by several other flights to some major cities like London and Amsterdam, reports Xinhua news agency.

China has reported seven new coronavirus cases, including the first instance of local transmission in Beijing in weeks.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Israel surpassed 200, for the first time since April 25, according to the Ministry of Health. It said on Thursday that 214 new patients were added, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 18,569, Xinhua news agency reported. The death toll from the virus increased from 299 to 300, while the number of patients in serious condition increased from 31 to 34, out of 120 patients currently hospitalised.

The number of recoveries rose to 15,250, with 63 new recoveries, while the number of active cases reached 3,019, the highest since May 18. Earlier on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that if the increase in infections continues, restrictions that were lifted would have to be reimposed.

The Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare reported no new deaths from COVID-19 for a fourth consecutive day. According to the ministry on Thursday, a total of 27,136 people have died from COVID-19 in Spain, with 32 people losing their lives to the virus in the past seven days, Xinhua news agency reported.

The ministry also reported 156 new cases detected by PCR tests, which discover if the coronavirus is active in the body. The figure was down from 164 a day earlier. Of the new cases, 99 were in the regions of Madrid and Catalonia. As of Thursday, Spain reported a total of 242,707 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
