The Home Ministry has sounded high alert across the country following the blasts that ripped through a crowded area close to a cluster of bus stands in Dilsukhnagar area of the city last evening, killing 16 people and injuring 119.

States have been asked to beef up security in sensitive places including markets, religious places, railway stations, bus stands, airports and other installations, the officials said.

Meanwhile, Home ministry officials said today that a specific alert warning attack by Pakistan-based terrorist group was sent to Hyderabad police on Thursday morning.

The Ministry had sent specific alert on Thursday morning to four cities—Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Hubli—warning them of probable attacks by terrorists, they said.  Besides, Maharashtra and Gujarat police forces were also sent the alert, the officials said.
