Nanda Devi: Bodies of 8 missing mountaineers found buried in snow
Indian Air Force helicopters have spotted the bodies of eight mountaineers who went missing on way to the 7,434-metre-high Nanda Devi East peak in Uttarakhand. The eight-member team consisting of climbers from the US, UK and Australia went missing en route to the Nanda Devi East peak on May 25.
All the eight bodies were sighted near an unscaled peak adjoining the Nanda Devi East peak, during an air search by Air Force helicopters.

Earlier on Monday, the authorities managed to rescue four other climbers from UK, stuck up near base camp of Nanda Devi East peak in Pithoragarh. They were spotted 21 kilometers beyond the base camp and rescued during a sortie undertaken to locate the missing eight-member team led by well known UK climber Martin Moran.
The route to the peak begins from Munsiyari about 132 km from the district headquarters.
