In order to appease the "rain gods" in Karnataka's Mandya district, two boys were forced to wed. On Friday night, two boys were married by villagers, and a feast was also planned as a way to bring rain to the area and please the rain gods.

The ceremonies were held in Gangenahalli Village in the Krishnarajpet Taluka of the Mandya district because, according to reports, some parts of the state haven't had much rain this year. To "appease the rain gods," locals claimed, the state's residents have resorted to old customs and bizarre practices.

The two boys, dressed in traditional garb, took part in a wedding ceremony as the bride and groom. In order to make up for the shortfall, the locals prayed to the rain god and planned a special feast for the villagers as part of the wedding.

"This was done as a part of a prayer ritual to appease the rain gods and bring rain to the region by the villagers. A feast was also arranged after the marriage," they said.

"Monsoon rain has weakened in the state, so there is a lack of rain compared to last year. Due to this, the people of the state have resorted to celebrating old traditions," locals added.
