Telangana elections: Confusion over seat adjustment among allies to be resolved soon: TJS

The confusion over seat adjustments among the allies will be resolved soon, said Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS), a partner in the "grand alliance" for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, on Monday. The "grand alliance" comprises the Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS.

The confusion arose with parties giving tickets to candidates in constituencies allotted to their alliance partners.

"About seats, it will happen. If not today, it will happen tomorrow. I don't think it is a major problem. I am confident that we will be able to resolve that by tomorrow," said TJS president M Kodandaram in a 'Meet the Press', which was organised by Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ).

He was asked about the confusion with regard to seat adjustment among the alliance partners though Monday is the last day for filing nominations and the lack of clarity about the proposed common agenda.

The remaining 15 days leading up to the polling date (December seven) should be used for the purpose, he said, as he observed firming up the alliance and reaching out to people with a common agenda has been delayed.

The common agenda has been prepared, he said.

When it was pointed out that any "friendly contests" among the alliance partners might hurt winning chances of their candidates, he said efforts to avoid such contests would continue.

"We have to avoid them (friendly contests). One or two may be unavoidable but they should go. Those efforts will continue," he said.

Kodandaram further said he is not working for becoming deputy chief minister (in the event of the alliance coming to power) or any other post.

Telangana goes to polls on December 7 and the votes will be counted on December 11.
