Howrah: The headmistress along with six cooks and helpers of a government school were arrested today, a day after 30 students fell ill after being served detergent when they had asked for salt during their mid-day meal at Domjur here in Howrah, police said.  


Bolurhati Girls' school Headmistress Sharmi Das and six others including the cook and helpers were arrested in connection with yesterday's incident in which 30 students fell sick after having their mid-day meal.  

Meanwhile, 11 students, who were kept under observation last night, were released from the hospital today morning.  Nineteen out of thirty students were discharged yesterday night after primary treatment.

Around 30 girl students of Class VI and VII of the school complained of uneasiness after having mid-day meal yesterday.

School authorities along with the help of members from the local panchayat rushed them to the Domjur district hospital for treatment.
