Uttar Pradesh: Farming is not duck soup and requires a lot of tricks and tactics to grow a crop. However, protecting the crop from pests and other animals is another laborious task. Farmers from Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri are going through the same fate as the area is facing monkey terror. But it seems that the farmers have churned out a unique way to tackle the problem. To prevent monkeys from damaging their sugarcane crop, the farmers are using a bear costume.
Pictures of the incident have gone viral, where a farmer can be seen wearing a bear costume and seating in an adjacent field.
In an interaction with ANI, a farmer said that over 40 monkeys in the area are damaging the crops but the authorities paid no attention to the matter despite receiving the information.
He further said that, several farmers contributed money and bought a bear costume for Rs 4,000 tp protect the crops. "40-45 monkeys are roaming in the area and damaging the crops. We appealed to authorities but no attention was paid. So we (farmers) contributed money and bought this costume for Rs 4,000 to protect our crops," said Gajender Singh, a farmer.
