The Boeing 737-900 aircraft carrying 174 passengers suffered a tyre blowout during takeoff at Tampa International Airport in Florida on Wednesday. A similar incident occurred on Monday with a United Airlines flight after takeoff from Los Angeles.
The storms in Texas produced hail, rain and destructive winds as high as 153 km per hour, as a result of which the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport had to ground at least 700 flights. However, there were no injuries related to the Boeing 737-800 plane and the maintenance crew was making inspections.
The AA Flight 1219 was forced to make an emergency landing back to Albuquerque after the unruly passengers tried to open an emergency exit door mid-air. The case is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
