Ishant Sharma kickstarted England's demise as Alastair Cook's men lost their final six wickets for 50 runs in less than 13 overs. It was the first win for Team India at Lord's since 1986 and first overseas win since 2011. Ishant Sharma played above expectations and took seven wickets. He is now the best Indian bowler at Lord's cricket ground with best bowling figures. Apart from this, there were times when India almost loosens the grip on the match. But what matters in the end, is the win and that is what India achieved with the margin of 95 runs.The loss, which is the second of the summer in four Tests so far, extends England's winless stretch to 10 outings, dating back to last August against Australia. There has been huge criticism of captain Alastair Cook and the wicketkeeper Matt Prior because of their poor show. England prepared a green-top wicket to intimidate the young Indian batsmen who were thought to have flourished on pitches that had absolutely nothing for the bowlers. But much to their surprise, England fell into their own trap and lost yet another Test match. Former cricketers like Tom Moody and Michael Vaughan tweeted that English team needs changes. They can't afford to go with the same squad.Considering all the positives and negatives, India TV analyses what changes should be made in both sides for the third Investec test to be played at Southampton from July 27 – 31.India: Gautam Gambhir as an openerWhen the first test began, it was Murali Vijay who was criticized to be included in the playing 11 because of his poor run form but after the second test and a brilliant 146 in first test, he has been dominating. Shikhar Dhawan may lose his chance as an opener for the third test after failing to give a good start in two tests so far. Gautam Gambhir is the best man to replace Dhawan. His run form has been excellent from Ranji season to IPL 7 and really deserves the chance. He also has the experience which will form really attacking duo with Murali Vijay. Gambhir currently averages 44.18 in 54 tests. With 206 as the highest score and over 4000 runs at the strike rate of 51.55, he cannot be ignored. He just cannot sit in the dressing room and warm the benches. England: Alastair Cook should be replacedAlastair Cook may have raised his hand to lead England in their rebuilding phase but his poor form with the bat is not at all helping their cause. Had he not been captain, Cook might have been shown the exit door long ago. With the bat, it has been even worse.Since the beginning of the 2013 Ashes series on home soil, Cook has scored just 638 runs from 27 innings at an average of 23.62. In 2014 alone, the England captain is averaging 14.33.Unable to score the way he once did and having led this England side to a winless streak spanning 10 Tests (as well as three consecutive one-day international series defeats), Cook must be removed from the leadership and his current position in the team, returning to county cricket to fight for his place as the nation's other representatives have been forced to do. Kevin Pietersen, would have been the best to replace him as a captain and as a batsman if he was in the team. India: Virat Kohli failure at middle order He has not been in his actual form since IPL earlier this year, and in two tests played in this series he made only 34 runs in all the 4 innings. He is the main strength to the middle order; it is not what is expected from him. After failing to score so far in the series, Wriddhiman Saha or Rohit Sharma may be the best option for Dhoni to replace him. The only factor which could save Kohli from being sacked from the team is his past overseas performance in South Africa and New Zealand where he was the lone star who shined from Team India. England: Ben Stokes should be given restBen Stokes showed immense promise during the Ashes Down Under, but he is nowhere close to delivering on it. The bowlers have managed to sneak the ball between the bat and the pads, and his bowling isn't encouraging enough for Cook to depend on him. Since that innings of 120 at Perth in December 2013, Stokes has scored 14, 19, 47, 32, and then three ducks in a row. England may as well look to rope in someone who can provide good support to their pacers, like Tim Bresnan did in 2011.India: Change in bowling unitNo doubt, every Indian bowler played his best with both bat and bowl so far in the test series but for now in the third test, it's time to have a change. You can't depend on a bowler that he can bat also. His first job is to bowl and if he is not doing so, he should be excluded. Presently, Stuart Binny is in the team as an all-rounder. He played only one crucial innings of 78 runs which saved the first test for India. But in the rest three innings he has scored 1, 9 and 0. Besides this, he was unable to get even a single England wicket in three innings India bowled which clearly shows his bowling also has not been effective. Ravichandran Ashwin is the one who is the only one that can replace him. Getting him in the team, India will get another spin option who can bat too. It should be kept in mind that Ashwin is 3rd ranked test all-rounder, the only Indian in top 10. If Dhoni wants to keep Binny in, then the only option left is to exclude Mohammad Shami and bring in Ashwin.England: Anderson and Broad's role as England captain in field settingsYes! For England, James Anderson and Stuart Broad continue to hold influential roles in Alastair Cook's side, often seen ordering fielders around from the top of their mark while the captain stands at slip. While it's understandable that the team's spearheads have their own ideas, the pair's reluctance to follow Cook's lead only continues to undermine everything this England team is trying to achieve. Have you ever seen MS Dhoni being overruled by Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami? Peter Moores and the captain whether Cook or otherwise, must reclaim the ultimate authority. Apart from the changes that England can possibly make ahead of the third Test, they need to change the way they have been thinking. The implosion at Lord's is not at all a good sign, especially for teams that are in a rebuilding phase.
