12:31 pm: Modi: Can we take initiative to change that attitude? Do you know your village's birthday? If you don't know, then go through government documents. If there is no record then we will select a day to celebrate Jayapur's birthday. On that day, all those people who have gone outside for work, education, etc, must come back to participate in the celebration. On that day our village will be cleaned for the occasion. See how we can change without the government's aid.

We move forward in life and leave behind the people who helped us climb the ladder of success.

12:14 pm:Modi- People are saying all sorts of things on my adopting Jayapur village. There are speculations galore. But my reason for selecting this village is very clear. After the BJP decided to give me Varanasi to contest from in the Lok Sabha Elections, this was the first village that I had heard about. Fire had engulfed a part of this village and five people died in the accident. I hadn't heard of any other village in near Varanasi before this. No MP can adopt a village,. The village is adopting the Member of Parliament. No matter where we go, what we learn from the villages, we cannot learn from elsewhere. If I want to be a good public servant then I cannot learn that by sitting with officers. I can learn that from villages. They may not have done schooling but experience is their tech.

11:26 am: Modi: In these past few years our country had faced loss because of these scams, corruption, etc. The middle class people bear the consequences of the financial loss to the nation. Hence our government took a crucial step by allotting Rs 2370 crore for you through various schemes.

People told me that the entire area was known as Benares street. All the prominent teachers of the University resided there. It was area of intellect. That it why it was called Benares street.

11:11 am: Modi: Research in technology upgradation, human resource development are initiatives that the government intends to take forward. Our new generation must not involve themselves in the sector out of compulsion, but out of will.
11:08: Modi: This profession gives employment to all sorts of people. But consumers now have a lot of choices. Competition is intense. Money alone cannot suffice. We need to develop every minute sector. Through computers we can ensure minimum wastage. Designing can be done through computer technology. Production will increase in terms of quality, speed if people from lowly sectors of the society are engaged in the process.
11:09: Modi: But today I'm with you. In our country textile ranks number 2 in providing employment to the nation. It is one sector that has no barrier between owner and labourer. Everyone is equal. Its like a family with no obstacle of caste. Just like the threads of cloth are woven so is the society. This is a specialty of Varanasi. But if with time, this sector does not develop, then there can be stale.
11:02: Modi: Today I have come here to be amongst my own people. Because of security provisions, it feels that there is difference in stature between you and me. But I have accepted Varanasi as my own. Earlier I had decided to come here, but Andhra faced severe storm hence I have to change last minute plans to be there.
