Mumbai : Refuting any possibility of estranged Thackeray cousins Raj and Uddhav coming together, MNS spokesperson Shirish Parkar has ridiculed the idea.

"There is no question of Shiv Sena and MNS coming together. The idea is ridiculous and if it was initiated by the Shiv Sainiks, Sena chief Bal Thackeray should make them understand," Parkar said in his fortnightly magazine 'Mi Maharashtracha, Maharashtra Maza' released recently.

Parkar was referring to the 'Thackeray Jodo' campaign started by some Sena activists to unite Raj and Uddhav ahead of Mumbai Municipal Corporation polls scheduled in 2012.

Criticising Sena for 'boasting about' working for Marathi people, Parkar said "people like Chandrika Keniya, Ram Jethmalani, Pritish Nandy and Videocon's Rajkumar Dhoot were elected with the support of Sena but they were never seen holding the party's saffron flag. Is this not a breach of trust of Marathi manoos?"

Sena came into the power after raising the Hindutva issue and keeping aside Marathi agenda, he said.

Sena has been in power in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for 22 years, Parkar said, adding it did not make efforts to stop influx of Bangladeshis and others. He took potshots at the 'Lai-Chana', 'Mi Mumbaikar' and 'Uttar Pradesh Din' campaigns of Sena, saying "were these festivals started to restrict the influx of outsiders."

Praising Raj Thackeray for having a "clear agenda on Marathi issue", Parkar said "Raj always says his language, caste and religion is Marathi. He does not differentiate between Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Christian." PTI
