Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday came out all guns blazing at the Congress party and alleged that since 2010 United Progressive Alliance (UPA) “violated” all norms for fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya.

“Since 2010 UPA has violated all norms for Vijay Mallya and Kingfisher Airlines. This shows the propensity to which the Congress can lie to cover-up their sins,” Goyal said in a press conference.

“Gandhi family gave special privileges to Vijay Mallya. Congress president Rahul Gandhi must resign,” Goyal further said.

Gandhi on Thursday demanded Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's resignation after accusing him of collaborating with Vijay Mallya and giving him a free passage to flee the country.

Gandhi and Mallya both were lying about Jaitley meeting the latter, he said.

“Vijay Mallya wrote a letter to former PM Manmohan Singh,” Goyal alleged.

Liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya on Wednesday said that he met the finance minister before leaving India, a sensational claim denied by Arun Jaitley as "factually false."
