World Cup 2023: Key moments that helped team India register its sixth win in a row in Lucknow

Team India faced struggling England side in the 29th match of the ongoing Cricket World Cup. The hosts registered their sixth win in a row to almost secure their place in the semifinal. On the other hand, the Jos Buttler-led England side have been knocked out of the tournament with fifth loss.

  • After opting to bowl first, England made early inroads to put India in trouble. David Willey and Chris Woakes picked up the first three wickets to fall including that of Virat Kohli for a duck to leave India reeling at 40/3 in the 12th over of the innings. It finally looked like England - the world champions - were playing as they fielded brilliantly as well to show their high spirits.

The captain scored 87 runs off 104 deliveries with 10 fours and three sixes to his name carrying his excellent form in the World Cup.
  • The much-needed finishing kick was provided to team India by Suryakumar Yadav. He made sure to stay in the middle till the end but got out in the 47th over of the innings. Nevertheless, Surya scored a vital 49 off 47 balls with 4 fours and a six to his name. Thanks to his efforts, India managed to post a fighting total of 229 runs in their 50 overs for the loss of nine wickets.
