Karnataka crime: A man was arrested for allegedly beating his live-in partner to death with a pressure cooker on her head in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, police said on Monday (August 28).

The incident occurred on Sunday after the accused had a “doubt” over his partner.

The deceased was identified as Deva, 24, a resident of Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram while the accused Vaishnav is a native of Kollam.

Both were in a live-in relationship for nearly two years. They had rented an apartment in Beguar, South Bengaluru, the police said.

The couple had studied together since college.

According to the police, they often engaged in verbal spats which were verified by their neighbours, however, none of them filed any police complaint earlier.

Vaishnav was earlier on the run after allegedly committing the crime, however, he was traced by the police and arrested.

“Both people had been living in the same house for the last two years. They are both from Kerala. A few days ago, Vaishnav had some doubts about the deceased, they used to fight over it. On Sunday, the same happened and he hit her with a cooker. We have registered a case under section 302. The incident happened around 5 pm,” CK Baba, DCP South Bengaluru Police said.

He said that the accused was being interrogated.

“They had some interaction even before at the family level as per the family. We have arrested him and interrogation is going on,” he said.
