Mr X movie review: Give it a royal miss

Mr X Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur
Things that worked

It's hard to answer. Vikram Bhatt's sci-fi-cum-revenge saga is a big time let down for its half-baked execution. Right from the first frame where Raghu and Siya are given a task to save a bus loaded with innocent people and a strange terrorist, the action-cum-unnecessary-emotional drama is convoluted, torturous and unintentionally hilarious.

The biggest flaw comes in the form of protagonist Raghu who survives the major fire at the factory. After the incident only his hair is gone but his leather jacket continues to shine. His transformation into Hollowman or Mr India by gulping some blue-coloured water is also given a dull treatment by poor CGI effects.

"The more science knows the more it realises that it knows little", the meaning of this line by a medical researcher in the movie stands true since we get too little to know anything that runs on big screen for over 2 hours 20 minutes.

There is plenty of such 'gyan' given to us with few lines picked from 'Bhagvad Gita' too. What's more wrecked is the action department. Mr X can fly, he is fast as wind and can ride bike in the wrong direction on a one-way. Has enough qualification to join 'Avengers' team!

Performances
The less we talk about it the better it is for Emraan's fans, who would be craving to watch this flick. Amyra Dastur in the entire episode seems in pain and ready to shed tears for no reason. Her chemistry with Emraan also fails to do wonders for the movie. Arunoday Singh as chief antagonist does a little justice to his role but is forced back by Vikram Bhatt's poor writing.

India TV verdict
One star for Mr X. Only if you are a die hard fan of Emraan, this film can be your cup of tea but rest can give it a royal miss.
