Jaipur: A day after a 21-year-old woman registered a complaint against a man accusing of raping her in a moving car, the Gandhi Nagar police has nailed down the culprit. Police have arrested two persons from Dausa, including the main accused and his accomplice, for the crime.

The rape survivor had got in touch with the accused identified as Dinesh Sharma (43) through Whatsapp chat platform. The accused had let his number known to job seekers, applicable only to women, to contact him for a suitable jobs.

“The rape survior contacted Sharma and after a few interac tions she was ready to come down to Birla Temple in Jaipur as suggested by the accused.The accused took the woman to various places including Aadarsh Nagar and Raja Park in car with tinted glasses and raped the girl in the moving vehicle,” a senior officer of the Gandhi Nagar police station on Thursday after arresting Dinesh.

Since his accomplice Hari Kishan was driving the vehicle despite knowing that a woman was raped, he is also arrested for criminal conspiracy . “The girl had provided the cellphone numbers through which she got in touch with the main accused. Our surveillance team was already in touch with the mobile network service provider and finally after getting addresses of the ac cused, a team of police reached at a village near Dausa and arrested them,” a senior police officer said.

However, police have not ruled out the fact that the acquaintance of the accused and the girl is not just confined to a promise made through Whatsapp.

“The accused have claimed that they had known each other personally for a long time,” a senior officer said.

Police have recorded the statement of the girl on Thursday and have also booked the accused under sections 376, 120-B and other appropriate sections of the IPC.

The woman in her FIR lodged on Wednesday had stated that . she met the man on Tuesday and was raped between 8 pm and 9 pm.
