Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat was shot at by terrorists at the Tehsildar office in Chadoora. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to injuries.

One of the three killed terrorists linked to Hizbul Mujahideen has been identified as Ashraf Molvi -- one of the oldest surviving terrorists of the outfit in Jammu and Kashmir.

Two Pakistani militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

The slain LeT commander Yousuf Kantroo was figured in the list of top 10 most wanted militants in Kashmir and he was the longest surviving militants in the valley.

Police along with 15RR at a checkpoint established at Sonmullah Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing joint check post tried to flee from the spot but the alert party apprehended him tactfully.

J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha strongly condemn the terror attack on Sarpanch, Manzoor Ahmad Bangroo. "Perpetrators of this despicable act shall be punished. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of grief," he added.

There were no reports of any casualties so far. 

The explosion took place when the driver of the tempo, bearing a registration number of the Jammu district, opened the rear door of the vehicle near the parking area.

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to track down the assailants

The search operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs by the Poonch Brigade of White Knight Corps and SOG Poonch in village Noorkote of Tehsil Haveli.

Police said they were shifted to District Hospital Pulwama in injured condition, wherefrom Singh was referred to SHMS (Shri Maharaja Hari Singh) hospital in Srinagar.

Kashmiri Pandits held special prayers at the Mata Sharika Devi temple. The temple is situated on a hillock called the 'Hari Parbat' in the middle of old city of Srinagar.

The Sharda Peeth Temple, a symbol of the faith of Kashmiri Pandits, is about 5000 years old. Kashmir is the center of reverence for the whole of India including the Pandits.

"At about 8:35 pm, terrorists fired at and critically injured SPO Ishfaq Ahmad near his residence at Chadbugh in Budgam," one of the officials said.
