Hotels might have their own way of making you feel entertained, but camps have a simple, unique charm about them that can't be replicated by a hotel, no matter how expensive it may be.
More freedom
A sense of decorum needs to be maintained in hotels. As much as you would like to release the inner primate inside you, doing so in a hotel is ill-advised. At a campsite, however, things are simpler in nature. The areas are not closed off by walls or restricted areas -- you can lose yourself for hours just walking around and taking in the sights.
There is a sense of openness in camping, and the sheer scope of activities you can take part in is enormous.
