New Delhi: HTC has officially announced that it is bringing the J Butterfly HTL23 to Asian markets, including Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The Butterfly 2 and the Japan edition are the same in specs, except there won't be WiMAX2+ or LTE Advance support in the Butterfly 2. For now, pricing details have not been provided.


The single-SIM HTC Butterfly 2 will succeed the HTC Butterfly launched last year at Rs 49,990 in India.

The Butterfly 2 (B2) comes with a full HD 5-inch super-LCD display and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC that clocks at 2.5GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The device offers 16GB or 32GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via microSD card slot. It offers the HTC Duo Camera with 13 megapixel main sensor, f/2.0, 28mm lens and support for 1080p video recording. There is also a 5-megapixel front shooter. Interestingly, HTC has dropped the Ultrapixel camera for the Butterfly 2.

The HTC Butterfly 2 is a water-resistant device with IPX5 and IPX7 ratings. The company also claims that the handset is dust-proof tool, with a IP5X rating. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, gyro sensor, and barometer.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with DLNA, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with MHL, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G and 4G LTE.

The device gets its juice from a 2700mAh battery that's rated to deliver a talk time of up to 23.9 hours on 3G, and standby time of up to 643 hours. The handset is available in Blue, Red, and White colour options. It measures 145.4x70.2x9.99mm, and weighs 151 grams.

"HTC Butterfly 2 follows HTC's iconic design and globally acclaimed user experience," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. "Its elegant appearance and fantastic performance will certainly provide consumers with the best experience ever."

The smartphone is equipped with dual front stereo speakers and HTC's BoomSound technology that is claimed to deliver 25 per cent louder output than the HTC One (M8). HTC has tied up with Harman, to feature LiveStage Signal Processing Technology (Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong only) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
