Moradabad: Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq opposed the decision of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to include epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata in textbooks and said that the Quran should be included the in syllabus because there is no greater book than 'Quran Sharif' in the world.

Sambhal MP, who is always in the news for his controversial statement, opposed the inclusion of Ramayana and Mahabharata in the NCERT textbooks.

What is the whole matter?

When asked bout the inclusion of chapters of Mahabharata and Ramayana in NCERT textbooks, Samajwadi Party MP said, "There is no greater book in the world than the Quran. It is not written by us or the people of the country but the book is written by Allah. It should be included in NCERT."

It is pertinent to mention that the seven-member committee of NCERT, which was constituted last year, has recommended that epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata should be included in social sciences textbooks and the Preamble of the Constitution written on classroom walls.

The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has not taken a call on the recommendations yet. The NCERT is revising the school curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The new NCERT textbooks are likely to be ready by the next academic session.

SP MP remains in the news with his statements

Samajwadi Party MP is often in the news due to his statements. Recently he had expressed his displeasure over the ban imposed on Halal products. He said that the government's decisions are full of hatred and all the decisions are anti-Muslim.

Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal has accused the Chief Minister and BJP leaders of having an anti-Muslim policy. He claimed that the ban on Halal products is part of this policy, and efforts are being made to intimidate Muslims. However, he asserted that Muslims are not afraid, and they have the same rights as people of other religions and castes in the country.
