In a remark that could trigger fresh speculations about rift within RJD national president Lalu Prasad's family, his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday made it clear that he would not shy away from assuming the leadership of the party if given a chance.
The over two-hour meeting between Tej Pratap and his father took place at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, where Lalu is undergoing treatment for various ailments after being convicted in fodder scam cases.
An MLA from Mahua in Vaishali district, Tej Pratap has kept away from his family as well as politics since he filed for divorce on November 3.
Lalu Yadav’s family members have immense faith in the goddess enshrined there and have been frequent visitors to the temple in eastern Uttar Pradesh, bordering Bihar, said priest Raj Mishra.
The mercurial RJD leader was last seen in Bodh Gaya on Saturday where he had checked in at a hotel after meeting his ailing father at a hospital in Ranchi.
Tej Pratap Yadav is said to be fond of visiting places of pilgrimage like Vrindavan and Varanasi for spiritual solace and one of his grouses against his wife is that she has not been able to adjust to his way of life.
"Yes I have filed for divorce. I cannot live with her anymore," Tej Pratap told the media in Gaya district on the way to Ranchi, Jharkhand to meet his father who is undergoing treatment at a hospital after being jailed in the fodder scam.
Tejashwi Yadav, former deputy chief minister and currently leader of the opposition in the Bihar assembly, ducked questions related to infighting from the media.
Tej Pratap said a man with a weapon approached him on the pretext of shaking hands with him during visit to his constituency Mahua.
Tej Pratap performed puja and even blowed a conch shell (shankh) and played damru in a temple in Patna before leaving for Deoghar in Jharkhand for kanwar yatra.
While taking a jibe at Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Tejashwi Yadav said, “Some people are trying to create a narrative here that BJP will not be defeated till JDU comes back in Mahagatbandhan."
Reacting to omission of his name, the RJD chief's elder son rubbished speculations about rift within the family.
A day ahead of the Foundation Day celebrations of the RJD, Aishwarya has got a prominent place along with Lalu and Rabri on party posters and banners.
Speaking to media, Tej Pratap alleged that his Facebook profile was hacked by the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) adn Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
To make the most of the opportunity, Yadav is working out at the gym for a perfect body. He also posted the poster of his movie on social media.

Tej Pratap, who is said to be of a religious nature and known for visiting temples and offering prayers, said that he will sacrifice anything for unity in the party and for his younger brother -- Tejashwi.
He also said that some party leaders with vested interests are keen to create division and dispute between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav.
Brother Tejashwi, who was seen at the forefront at every family function, posted a video on Twitter where he was seen grooving alongwith Tej Pratap.
