The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday discharged Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in connection with Sunanda Pushkar death case.
A Delhi court on Monday reserved its order on the issue of framing of charges against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in a case related to his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death in a luxury hotel in the national capital.
Special Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava told the court that the Pushkar was upset and suffering from mental agony due to the scuffle between the duo.
"There is a letter written by Tharoor to Tarar addressing her as 'My darlingest'. Such type of language was used. There are various letters which shows how intimate Tharoor and Tarar were to each other," said Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava while accusing Tharoor of cruelty.
A Delhi court will on August 20 begin arguments on the charges in the death of Sunanda Pushkar in which her husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is an accused.
Public prosecutor Atul Srivastava, who represented the police, told the court that fresh copies will be given to Tharoor, after which the court fixed the mater for further hearing on December 1.
The anticipatory bail application of Tharoor was premature, said the petitioner.
Opening up on the death of his wife, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said he had done nothing wrong, and that his conscience was clear.
The court has directed Tharoor to furnish a fixed deposit of Rs 2 lakh, which will be refunded after his return.
On May 14, the Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet in the court, in which it named Tharoor as an accused.
The order on anticipatory bail plea of Shashi Tharoor has been reserved after the Delhi Police said that the Congress leader might flee the country.
The plea, filed before Special Judge Arvind Kumar, mentions that the charge sheet has been filed without arrest.
Tharoor said he has taken note of the developments in the case being heard by the Patiala House Court in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
In an e-mail sent to Tharoor on January 8, 2014, she had written, "I don't care about the test. I have no desire to live...all I pray for is death," the police claimed but did not elaborate.
A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and A M Khanwilkar issued a notice to the police on Swamy's plea, leaving open the question of maintainability of the petition.
