Flood situation in Assam, brought by incessant rainfall, has affected more than 26 lakh people across 27 districts.
The Kaziranga National Park in Assam recorded less wildlife causality this year so far, said Forest Minister of the state, Parimal Suklabaidya.
As India battles the flood havoc, the Disaster Management Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs quoted Central Water Commission data to suggest how not just Assam, but Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala
Flood has wreaked havoc parts of Assam. Due to flood, several areas have been submerged in water. Water has entered in Rongmola and Miri villages in Dibrugarh. The villagers who flee away and survived are now living in relief camp in Dibrugarh.
Flood in Assam's Kaziranga National Park has claimed lives of over 100 animals. Forest officials and rescue teams have sprung into action to restrict the toll.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inspected an embankment damaged by rainfall and increased water flow in Buradiya River at Pokhura village in Assam's Nalbari.
The situation has worsened due to flood in Assam.
The current wave of floods in Assam has badly impacted wildlife in Kaziranga National Park. A total of 108 animals, including 9 rhinos, including 5 male and 4 female rhinoceros have died so far.
Low-lying areas in Assam's Chirang submerged due to heavy rainfall and flood situation in the state. State Minister of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, Chandan Brahma said, "More than 100 villages affected due to flood here.
Due to floods, 80% of Kaziranga National Park is submerged in water. So far 66 animals have died in the floods and 170 have been rescued.
The flood-like situation emerged at Brahmaputra River bank in Assam because of continuous rainfall.
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park are affected due to Assam floods.
Around 25,000 people have been affected due to the floods triggered by incessant rain and rising level of Brahmaputra, said Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha.
Water level of the Brahmaputra river is rising every hour in Guwahati due to heavy rainfall, leading to flood-like situation in Assam. Local lives got affected due to it.
