Surya Pratap Shahi, 68, is a minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government. Shahi has been a 4-time MLA representing 9th, 11th, 13th and 17th Legislative Assembly elections. He presently represents Pathardeva constituency. Shahi is serving as Minister of Agriculture, Agriculture Education and Agriculture Research. Surya Pratap Shahi is one of the distinguished BJP leaders who won the election in 1985 despite Indira Gandhi's sympathy wave after assassination of Indira Gandhi in 1984. Shahi was elected as first-time MLA in the year 1985 and represented Kasia assembly seat. Shahi has been constantly with the BJP and held various portfolios during his so far political career. Surya Pratap Shahi is an important BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh who can turn many votes for the party in the UP assembly elections 2022.
