FIR against Modi: Two television news channels give statements

Ahmedabad: Representatives of two television news channels claimed to have appeared before the crime branch officials today and gave their statement in connection with broadcast of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's press conference on April

The representatives were asked if they were invited by the BJP to cover the happenings or they came on their own to cover the event, they said.

On April 30, the crime branch lodged an FIR against Modi for allegedly addressing a press conference immediately after casting his vote, which was seen as a violation of the Representation of People Act.

Since several television channels had broadcast the event and press conference, a separate complaint was also been lodged against television channels.

As part of the probe, all news channels present at that time, were asked to give their statement to the DCB, which is expected to record statements of some more news channels in the coming days.
