The woman is a psychology graduate student at the University of Ottawa and she performed this unusual act as a part of a study in front of the researchers at the university.
After she began making her claims, woman researchers at University of Ottawa decided to study her.
Researchers at the university said the woman has no brain abnormalities and this is the first case they were studying.
After the research, scientists believe that the left side of several areas of the brain associated with kinaesthetic imagery (the perception of the sensation of moving) are responsible for the sensation of being able to leave your body and float above it.
They find that the woman felt no emotion when she was floating above her body.
Thus they have termed it as “extra-corporeal experience” (ECE), in part.
Researchers said, many humans can be gifted with this ability in infancy but it gets lost without regular practice.
By infancy, they mean the period of life between birth and the acquisition of language approximately one to two years later.
