In yet another example of the continuing persecution  of minority community members in Pakistan, a Hindu woman was axed to death in the Baba Kot area of Balochistan’s Nasirabad district in Pakistan on Wednesday.

According to a report in Dawn, unidentified people attacked the Hindu woman named  Zania Kumari and escaped after killing her. The cause of the attack remains unclear.

The victim’s brother Jalo Ram alleged that his sister was killed for no reason by “influential people” of the area.

He made fervent appeals to Balochistan’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) and SSP, Nasirabad, to take action against the killers and provide security to his family.

Hindus living in Pakistan have always complained of persecution of their community by the members of the majority Muslim community.

According to South Asia Partnership-Pakistan, a local human rights group, Muslim men abduct and forcibly convert about 1,000 girls — mostly Hindus, almost every year.

Not only that, a large number of Pakistani Hindus leave for neighbouring India every year to escape religious persecution, according to the Pakistan Hindu Council.
