Hyderabad: The son of a former TDP MLA T. Ramesh Babu has been arrested by Hyderabad police for stealing a BMW car and two Hyundai Verna cars, all of whom have been recovered.

Hyderabad police DCP A. Venkateswara Rao told reporters today that the politician's son, a B. Tech final year student, was addicted to moving around in costly pubs, discotheques and long drives.

Police said, the young man walked into the parking lot of a hotel, while returning from a pub, took the keys of a BMW car (AP09 BX3006) from the attendant with nonchalance, and drove off. He changed the number plate to AP28 DG 5886 and drove around in the city with girlfriends in order to impress them. He told the girls that he got the BMW as a gift, police said.

On Sunday, during normal checking, his car was stopped, and on checking the documents, the truth tumbled out. Police found two more Hyundai Verna cars, both of whom were stolen, said Venkateswara Rao.

Police is now trying to find out the source of his lavish expenses at five-star discotheques.

The theft of luxury cars has been corroborated through CCTV footage seized by police.
