Preity Zinta files molestation case against Ness Wadia

Mumbai: Bollywood actress and  co-owner of Kings XI Punjab cricket team Preity Zinta, has filed a police complaint against her former boyfriend and also the co-owner of IPL team Punjab, Ness Wadia, alleging that he molested, abused and threatened her inside Wankhede stadium in south Mumbai.  




The 39-year-old actress filed the police complaint last night alleging that she was molested by BusinessmanWadia (44) inside Wankhede stadium on May 30, police sources at Marine Drive Police station told PTI. She alleged that on that he Wadia grabbed her hands and tried to pull her. He also threatened her that he can make her disappear.

On May 30, an IPL match between KingsXI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings was played in Wankhede stadium.  She gave a written complaint following which an FIR was registered against Wadia under IPC sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), police sources added.

She said in her complaint that they have not been on talking terms and  once or twice had arguments regarding work. He also misbehaved with the team staff, she alleged.

Today in a statement after  filling the complaint, Preity said this is a very difficult time for her. She said her intention is not to harm anyone but to protect herself. She requested the media to respect her privacy.

Meanwhile Ness Wadia, said he was shocked by the allegations and termed them as “false and baseless”.

“I am shocked at the complaint and the allegations made against me are totally false and baseless,” Wadia said in a statement.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria today said “offence has been registered. We are trying to collect evidence like the statements of those involved and CCTV footage”.

The Maharashtra State's Women's commission has demanded the arrest of Wadia.
