New Delhi: With increase in demand of gold and decrease in its rate, the black marketing mafias have started smuggling gold at much faster pace.

It's no longer a territory dominated by men only. Now more and more  women have emerged as smugglers for taking forward this business of gold smuggling.

There have been incidents in the past one year which have revealed various ways with which they try to flee away with gold.

But as it happens, they could not hoodwink security and police officials all the time. Below are few cases that narrate the numerous ways of gold smuggling going on in this country:

1. Last year a man had hidden 800 grams of gold in his colon. He was traveling from Air India flight from Dubai to Kerela.

During security checks, he was nabbed by custom officials at Kokijhod airport of Kerela. The gold caught was worth Rs. 25 lakh.

2. 4 people were nabbed by security officials at IGIT airport as they smelled something wrong while all four were passing through metal detector.

On investigation it was found that they had swallowed old buttons in order to safely hide them and carry it along them

For now, they are being fed with green and leafy vegetables so that the stuck gold buttons get out of their body ASAP.

3. Women are not behind; airport officials nabbed a woman on May 18 last year, who was traveling from Dubai to Delhi in Spice Jet flight at IGIT airport.

974.45 grams of gold was recovered from her underwear whose worth is 25.02 in the international market.

4. Even before, a woman was caught for hiding 2.14 kg of gold in her private parts.

The above mentioned incidents showcase the greed of smugglers for gold which is turning out to be their favorite commodity for smuggling.
