Chennai Super Kings have appointed Australia legend Michael Hussey as their batting coach ahead of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. The 42-year-old Hussey's association with CSK go back a long time. Hussey had a successful tenure with CSK as a player from 2008 to 2013 before he went to Mumbai Indians in 2014. However, he returned to CSK in 2015.

"I am really excited about returning to the Chennai Super Kings in a coaching capacity and working with the players to help them get the best out of themselves and also help to bring success to this great franchise," Hussey was quoted as saying by the Chennai Super Kings website.

Hussey scored 2213 runs in 64 IPL games at an average of 40.98 and remains the third-highest run-getter for CSK, behind Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Hussey, who played 79 Tests and 185 ODIs for Australia, said he has some great memories as a player of CSK and that he was looking forward to help CSK in making a come back.

"I have so many great memories as a player and have made many wonderful friends in Chennai and now I am excited about giving back to the franchise in trying to help the next generation of CSK players. It is exciting to have CSK back in the competition and I am sure the fans are very happy to have their team back on the field," he said.

CSK are returning to the league this season after serving their two-year suspension. The Chennai franchise retained Dhoni, Raina and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja during the IPL 2018 Player Retention event on January 4.
