India announce 12-member squad for Adelaide Test; Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav miss out

India are all set to start their four-match Test series against Australia on Thursday, December 6 in Adelaide. A day before the first Test, India have announced their 12-member squad for the opening Test. After Prithvi Shaw's ankle injury, it was quite clear that KL Rahul will open with Murali Vijay and the team management has gone with the obvious choice.

However, in a surprising move, the  No.1 ranked Test team will enter the ground with only four bowlers at the bouncy conditions at Adelaide Oval. Ravichandran Ashwin is the lone spinner in the squad along with three pacers in Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's exclusion came out as a shocker as he is one of the most consistent bowlers for India for quite few time with the red ball.

With the current 12-member squad, the only choice skipper Virat Kohli has to make is between his limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma and promising young talent Hanuma Vihari who scored half-century on his debut at tough English conditions earlier this year.

India 12-member squad: Virat Kohli (C), A Rahane (VC), KL Rahul, M Vijay, C Pujara, Rohit Sharma, Hanuma Vihari, R Pant (WK), R Ashwin, M Shami, I Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah
