The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to form a government for the fifth time in Madhya Pradesh in two decades. It earlier came to power in the state in 2003, 2008, 2013 and again in 2020 after the revolt by Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Madhya Pradesh went to poll for 230 Assembly seats in a single phase on Nov 17 and counting of votes was done on December 3. BJP, which had been battling close to 20 years of incumbency in state, won a resounding mandate bagging 163 seats while the Congress finished a distant second at 66 seats.

The saffron party had fielded 21 MPs in the assembly elections in their respective states to ensure victory in the polls. The strategy to pit all big players in the election bore fruits and the BJP received historic victory in the three states.
