In 2018, Williamson was handed the skipper role of Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and led them to the finals. He also finished as the highest run scorer in the 11th edition. As being captain of New Zealand, Williamson has portrayed responsibility in his batting and as a leader.
