New Delhi: The CBI today conducted raids at 14 locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, including the office of Rajender Kumar, secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to CBI, Rs 2.4 lakh was found during raids at Rajender Kumar's home and offices this morning.
Rajender, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, is accused of corruption in the purchase of computers and favouring one company in the tender process.
Rajender, an IIT-Delhi alumnus, was appointed Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister in February this year. He was also secretary to Kejriwal during his previous 49-day stint as Chief Minister.
A complaint was filed against Rajender in July by Ashish Joshi, who was sacked by Kejriwal in May as member-secretary of the Delhi Dialogue Commission.
His complaint was forwarded by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to the CBI.
The complainant alleged that Rajender, as director of Education (from May, 2002 to February, 2005) and later Secretary (IT), Secretary (Health) and Commissioner (VAT), had set up various companies to award work orders of departments without tenders which caused financial loss to the Delhi government.
Rajender Kumar formed a company viz Endeavors Systems Private Ltd along with some persons. In 2007, he became secretary (IT) in Govt of NCT of Delhi. During this period, he got this company empanelled with Public Sector Unit (PSU) viz ICSIL, ICSIL is an IT PSU and being a PSU can do work for departments without tenders, Joshi alleged in his complaint.
