    12 injured after drainage slab caves in under weight of crowd in Rajkot

    At least 12 people were injured after the slab of a drainage line caved in under the weight of a crowd gathered near a Lord Ganesh pandal in Gujarat's Rajkot city on Sunday night, an official said. Several people fell on the floor of the drainage after the concrete slab covering it gave way in Sarveshwar chowk area, said Rajkot collector Prabhav Joshi.

    Train services affected due to landslide in Odisha's Koraput

    Train services were affected in the Kothavasala-Kirandul line of Waltair division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Sunday due to a huge landslide between Manabar and Jarati stations in Odisha, an official statement said. The incident took place late on Saturday night and the debris covered the tracks. Restoration work is underway in full swing and railway officials are present at the spot, A K Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Waltair division said in the statement.

    Three arrested in connection with man's murder over affair in UP's Bareilly

    Three people, including a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly having an affair with her nephew, were arrested in connection with her husband's murder, police said on Sunday. Aarti, a resident of Shivpuri village in the Fatehganj area, allegedly had an affair with her nephew Manvendra Singh. Singh and his friend Saurabh have also been arrested, they said.

    UP: 2 newborns die 'due to cold' in private clinic, doctor held

    Two newborns died at a private clinic in Shamli district on Sunday allegedly because they were kept in a room that was too cold, police said. The families of the newborns alleged that the owner of the clinic -- Dr Neetu -- on Saturday had kept the air conditioner on overnight because he wanted to sleep well. The babies were found dead the next morning.

    12 kg heroin, Rs 19 lakh cash recovered in Punjab, 2 held

    Two drug smugglers have been arrested and 12 kgs of heroin and Rs 19.3 cash were recovered from them in a joint operation of the state police and the Border Security Force, Punjab Police said on Sunday. The narcotics were brought from Pakistan through drones, they said. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, in a post on ‘X’, said, “Big blow to trans-border narcotic network: Gurdaspur police and BSF, in a joint operation, have seized 12 kg of heroin along with Rs 19.3 lakh drug money from 2 smugglers.”
