Uttar Pradesh: Hema Malini, BJP MP from Mathura, on Thursday presented a dance drama at the event marking the 525th birth anniversary of Sant Mirabai in her Lok Sabha constituency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath among other officials attended the event.

Speaking about her performance on the 525th birth anniversary of Sant Mirabai, Hema Malini said, "I performed as an artist and he (PM Modi) watched it as a spectator. I am happy that the PM sat for two hours and watched a program. We are happy he came to Braj and launched a coin in her memory..."

Earlier today, PM Modi attended 525th birth anniversary of Sant Mirabai and offered prayers at the Lord Krishna Janmabhoomi.

PM Modi becomes first PM to offer prayers at Krishna Janmabhoomi

PM Modi, became the first Prime Minister to visit the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

He offered prayers at the temple and received gifts by the priests. These included a painting and an ‘angavastram’.

UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied the Prime Minister on his visit.

The Prime Minister’s visit comes two days after Allahabad High Court, in a significant development, granted approval to the construction plan for the Banke Bihari Temple corridor earlier this week.

The court’s green signal to the initiative, which is the brainchild of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has paved the way for the removal of encroachments obstructing the corridor’s path.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said, "Krishna became Dwarikadeesh when he came to Gujarat. Mirabai belonged to Rajasthan but came to Vrindavan in her quest for divine love."

In 'Amritkaal' of India's independence, country has come out of mentality of slavery, he said.

"I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to have a 'darshan' of 'Braj' because only those come here who are called by 'Shri Krishna and Shriji'," the Prime Minister said.

"'Bharat' has always been a country that worships women. They have not only assumed responsibilities but also guided the society, and Sant Mirabai is an example of this," he added.
