Apple iPhone XR unveiled: Features multiple colours and Dual-SIM support

On Wednesday, Apple went on and launched one of its highly anticipated iPhone XR. The event took place at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The new iPhone XR is a part of the companies new 2018 iPhone lineups. The phone was launched beside's the new iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max, along with the 2018 Apple Watch series 4.

Unlike the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the new iPhone XR comes with a 6.1 inch LCD display featuring the same notch as we saw on the iPhone X that was launched last year and the LCD panel on the iPhone XR is called "Liquid Retina" panel. The device is powered by the Apple's new A12 Bionic chip, which is based on the 7nm technology and backs other features like TrueDepth camera system and Face ID. The iPhone XR will run on iOS 12 out-of-the-box and will come in three storage configurations of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage.

Specs and features that run the iPhone XR

The iPhone XR comes with dual-SIM, dual standby technology and sports a 6.1-inch LCD Retina display (828x1792 pixels) along with the notch that includes the TrueDepth camera system and Face ID. The display is backed with 120Hz touch sample rate along with TrueTone supports that Apple claims is the most advanced LCD panel. The display misses out on the 3D Touch support but instead comes with a Haptic Touch technology for spontaneously launching the flashlight or the camera with a press on the home screen.

Powering the iPhone XR is the new Apple A12 Bionic chip coupled with the 7nm chip that offers 30 percent faster app launch time. Moreover, the chip comes with a six-core CPU, a four-core GPU along with a new dedicated Neural Engine. According to Apple, the new chip can handle five trillion operations per second in comparison to the two-core Neural Engine of the previous A11 chip that handles 600 billion operations per second. This makes the CPU 50 percent faster than the previous generation A11 chipset.

Getting on with the camera, the iPhone XR comes with a single 12MP camera sensor along with the quad-LED True Tone flash placed on the back with the six-piece lens and f/1.8 aperture. It features an advanced flicker-detect system and optical image stabilisation along with Focus Pixels. Towards the front is the 7-megapixel camera sensor that enables an advanced Face ID, powered by the enhanced TrueDepth camera system. The front camera supports improved Portrait mode and also comes with a Smart HDR feature for edit free results.

The phone will run on iOS 12 and for the battery, Apple really hasn't highlighted any details but is said to deliver one and half hour more usability than the iPhone 8 and will support wireless charging.
