New Delhi: Delhi notched their first victory of the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season defeating Haryana by 105 runs on the fourth and final day of their Group A match at the Roshanara Club Ground here Sunday.









Resuming the day at 63/5 while chasing a target of 376, Haryana were bowled out for 270 despite a fighting display by the lower batting order.

Avi Barot (12) got out cheaply in the morning session but Sachin Rana (86 not out) and Jayant Yadav (60) struck a brilliant 117-run partnership for the seventh wicket to take the visitors close to the 200-run mark.

Yadav was bowled by left armer Varun Sood but all-rounder Joginder Sharma (35) combined with Rana to put another 63-runs on the scoreboard before the Sharma perished. It took Delhi another couple of overs to bowl out neighbours Haryana and bag six points for the win.

Delhi now sit in fourth position in the points table with nine points while Haryana are eighth and second last.

The next round starts Nov 28 with Haryana taking on Punjab at home while Delhi face Odisha away at Sambalpur Dec 6.

In another Group A match at Cuttack, Odisha beat Jharkhand by nine wickets to record their first win of the season.

In Group B, Railways defeated Rajasthan by 119 runs while in Group C Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad notched up wins in their respective matches.

Assam had a dominant innings and 55-run victory over Tripura in Agartala, Hyderabad drubbed Himachal Pradesh by 185 runs in Dharamshala while Jammu and Kashmir had a thrilling 17-run triumph over Andhra Pradesh in Ananthapur.

The other matches resulted in draws.

In Meerut: Tamil Nadu 297 all out and 128 for two (Abhinav Mukund 56 not out, Murali Vijay 38; Piyush Chawla 2-17) vs. Uttar Pradesh 500 for nine declared (Mukul Dagar 69, Piyush Chawla 153; Aushik Srinivas 4-168).

In Kolkata: Bengal 303 all out and 194 all out (Anustup Majumdar 69, Wriddhiman Saha 52; Abhishek Bhatt 6-47, Chirag Jani 3-54) vs. Saurashtra 225 all out and 189 for four (Jaydev Shah 104 not out, Aarpit Vasavada 50 not out; Ashok Dinda 2-57, Sourav Sarkar 2-47).
