BJP leaders on Monday said, Jaitley would be the ideal candidate from Amritsar, and it will have a domino effect on neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and Jammu too.

Minister Anil Joshi said: "To win every seat is important and we will ensure that Jaitley is sent to the Lok Sabha with a huge margin of votes from Amritsar".

Joshi said, he had no personal grudge against Sidhu or any body else who are in the race for ticket, but it was the people's wish that Jaitley should contest from Amritsar.

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina himself is a contender for Amritsar seat, but he said, he would prefer Jaitley to be the candidate. "Jaitley will bring development to Amrtisar city and border areas. His mother belongs to Amritsar and he has spent his childhood here."

The leaders pointed out that even chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had recently requested BJP president Rajnath Singh at the Modi rally in Jagraon to field Jaitley in place of Sidhu from Amritsar.

The press conference was attended by several senior BJP leaders including Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora, district president Naresh Sharma, and general secretary Kewal Kumar.
