Bangalore: Some of the AAP members who left the party because of their differences with Arvind Kejriwal and his core team have now launched an apolitical organization named “Shreshta Bharat Abhiyan”.
Announcing the launch of “Shreshta Bharat Abhiyan” in Bangalore, former AAP member Ashwini Upadhyay said that this organisation will neither function as a political party nor align with any such organization.
Ashwini, one of the founding members of AAP, will be the coordinator of the new organization.
Ashwini said that this organization will serve as a think-tank to the central government on national policies.
“On a broader level, SBA will recommend reforms in five critical areas — election, police, judicial, agriculture and education,” Upadhyay said.
Interestingly, social activist Anna Hazare sent his emissary Vinayak Rao Patil to the launching ceremony of SBA on Sunday.
SBA members also claimed to be in touch with former AAP member Shazia Ilmi but there was no confirmation from Shazia's end.
Upadhyay also clarified that SBA members do not hold anything against the AAP although they believe that Arvind Kejriwal made the mistake of blaming all political and executive institutions and worked against them.
“Ours is a democratic organisation and not centric to one man's fancy. We will not accommodate anyone with vested interest. Anyone wanting to be member of SBA, must quit politics ,” added Upadhyay.
The newly formed organization claimed the support of eminent personalities like former Justice Santhosh Hegde, former UP DGP Prakash Singh, former director of NCERT Jagmohan Rajput, former IPS officer Y P Singh and waterman Dr Rajendra Singh.
