The only patient infected with the novel coronavirus in Tibet was discharged from hospital on Wednesday after 18 days of treatment. The 34-year-old patient is from Suizhou city in Hubei province, the epicentre of the virus. He travelled from Hubei's capital Wuhan to Lhasa, the provincial capital of Tibet by train from January 22 to 24.
Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, a Chinese city of more than 11 million people and has since then spread to various countries around the world. As many as 170 people have been killed, while over 1700 cases have been registered in China alone.

The conference is organised by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), which provides democratic governance to the Tibetan diaspora. In attendance were the heads and senior masters of all the Tibetan Buddhist lineages as well as of the Bon religion.

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in Tibet Autonomous Region has been equipped with mobile howitzers which aims to boost the troops' high-altitude combat capability to improve border security, state-run Global Times reported.
Reacting to the US move, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said here that the American action disregarded facts and amounted to interfering in China's internal affairs and was a violation of international rules.
People living along the banks of Siang river in Arunachal Pradesh were moved to safer places after China informed India about the landslide, which occurred on October 17, blocking Yarlung Tsangpo river in Tibet leading to the formation of the artificial lake.

The clarification comes in the wake of reports that the Centre has asked its officials not to attend the Dalai Lama events in a bid to mend fences with Beijing.
Authorities fear China may be carrying out some heavy construction work in the upper reaches of the Siang river.
The Dalai Lama said that "China needs India, India needs China" and "they have to live side by side".
At an interactive session organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Dalai Lama also claimed that China and Tibet enjoyed a close relationship, though there were occasional ‘fights’.
Dalai Lama said that amid all the linguistic and cultural diversity in India, it is a country that is the "most stable, more peaceful" of the Asian nations.
