Aakash Chopra invites Venkatesh Prasad for live discussion; latter refuses with blatant remark

"Venky Bhai, Test match chal raha hai. All of us are in the same team i.e. Team India. Not asking you to hold back your thoughts but the timing could be a little better. After all, our game is all about the timing," Chopra has earlier Tweeted.

Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra's battle of words doesn't seem to end anytime soon. After Prasad took to Twitter and blasted Aakash Chopra for calling him someone who runs a personal agenda, Chopra replied saying that the messages were getting lost in translation and invited Prasad for a live discussion.

Replying to the invitation, Prasad said that nothing is lost in translation and that he did not wish to engage with Chopra on this further.

Following is Venkatesh Prasad's series of Tweets where he points out Aakash Chopra's sarcastic comment on Rohit Sharma way back in 2014.

Prasad's last Tweet was also an indirect dig at Aakash Chopra, who asked the veteran fast bowler to consider the timing before taking to social media.  "Venky Bhai, Test match chal raha hai. How about, at least, waiting for both the innings to get over. All of us are in the same team i.e. Team India. Not asking you to hold back your thoughts but the timing could be a little better. After all, our game is all about the timing," Chopra has earlier Tweeted.

Replying to Chopra's suggestion, Prasad stated that timing, in this case, was irrelevant and the criticism was needed even if Rahul scored a half-century in the second innings.

"A few people thinking I have something personal against KL Rahul. Infact it is the opposite. I wish well for him and playing him in such form was never going to enhance his confidence. For him to earn his place back in Test cricket, now that the domestic season has ended," Prasad's latest Tweet read.

KL Rahul's Test Numbers

  • Innings: 81
  • Runs: 2642
  • Average: 33.44
  • Strike Rate: 51.64
  • 50s: 13
  • 100s: 7

Now these were his career numbers, and to be honest, Rahul has seen plenty of good things come his way. Now let's look at his numbers in Test cricket since 2020.

Numbers Since 2020

  • Innings: 21
  • Runs: 636
  • Average: 30.28
  • Strike Rate: 41
  • 50s: 2
  • 100s: 2

Now, these are some worrying numbers, in 21 innings played for India, Rahul has averaged just 30 with two 100s and two 50s against his name. The strike rate isn't much of an issue in the longest format of the game, but it is 10 points lower than his career figure.

Rahul has got to come back at his best sooner rather than later. The time might just be running out for him.
