Steyn celebrates a wicket.

South African legendary speedster Dale Steyn raised alarms when he walked off the field after bowling five overs while clutching his right shoulders yesterday during Day 2 of the 3rd Test against Pakistan at the Wanderers.

Given that it was the same shoulder that kept him out of the game for the past two years, murmurs began that this could bring down the curtains on the fast bowler's Test career. He was also seen punching the advertising hoardings on his way to the pavilion in frustration.

However, Steyn returned later on to bowl two more overs to give a rest to those concerns. Still, those who are aware of the extent of the wear and tear his shoulder had gone through before breaking down two years ago were left concerned. The Protea spearhead however through his latest tweet allayed any such fears that the latest injury could be a cause for concern.

When a worried fan asked: "Any news on @DaleSteyn62 shoulder?", the fast bowler surprised him by replying to his post.

"Strong as bull bud," he said.

Steyn was also unlucky not to take a wicket as he saw three catches go down off his bowling.

South Africa lead Pakistan by 212 runs with five wickets left as the third and final Test accelerated toward a conclusion on Saturday after just two days' play at the Wanderers.

South Africa was 135-5 in its second innings at stumps after 13 wickets fell on the second day in Johannesburg on a pitch offering fast bowlers on both teams plenty to work with. Twelve wickets fell on the first day.
