Generous Prithvi Shaw becomes fans’ favourite at Sydney Cricket Ground

The Indian team has found a new star in Prithvi Shaw and with each passing day, the Mumbaikar’s fan-following is increasing rapidly. In his debut Test, Shaw scored an outstanding century against West Indies to announce his arrival at the big stage and now he is part of the Indian Test squad for Australia tour. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India took to Twitter to post a video of Shaw, showcasing his wide fan following in Australia.

BCCI tweeted, “Young @PrithviShaw already managing to grab eyeballs here in Australia. Fans throng at The SCG for a selfie and autograph from the rising Star of #TeamIndia."

India are playing a four-day tour match against Cricket Australia XI at the SCG to gear up for the four-match Test series against Australia.

Fans thronged at the SCG for a selfie and autograph from the Shaw and captain Virat Kohli. The humble opener, who was holding his bat and helmet, looked tired but still fulfilled the fans' request.

The Indian team has a huge fan following in Australia which was witnessed during the recently-concluded three-match T20I series where a huge part of the crowd was supporting the visitors.

On Thursday, Shaw (66) was among the five Indian batsmen who struck fifties before the visitors were bowled out for 358 on the second day of the rain-hit practice game against Cricket Australia XI.

Shaw has impressed everyone with his batting skills and Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar was in full praise of the young lad.

Bangar said, "In whichever format that he's played he's made a mark straight away. Be it various formats of first-class cricket in India, be it the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Irani Trophy or India A, wherever he has played he as shown he could adapt to the conditions pretty well and to the stage as well."
